Language and Writing
Language was very important back then to talk about religion, wars, etc. but language was very hard and confusing. The first was called Sumerian for administration, religious, literary and scientific purposes. It was really the most common before. There were also Semitic, Subartuan and Akkadian. But then Aramic came and became the first official language of Mesopotamia. But writing came first as seen from research. Writing was the best way to communicate before. Writing was called Cuneiform Script based on pictographs. Cuneiform is very hard to study. It takes years and years to learn it, you have to go to school. They are called scribes. They are also jobs and can get hired. But only a few people are trained as scribes. But it is not the official writing of Mesopotamia. It never was but it was very known but not commonly used. Language and Writing was very challenging before. Coming up with ideas of language and writing.
Writing is more important than language because it's easier to communicate with each other. If language are easier, it is the most important then. But it's not. Language and writing were most commonly used by Akkadians, Syrians and Babylonians. Akkadians for just any communication. Syrians, usually to talk about war. And Babylonians to talk about religion and government.
Scribes wrote many different things but they mostly wrote about mythical creatures. They talk about myths of great heroes, gods, goddesses, demons and monsters. Then they put them in temples for the public to see it. Now it's discovered and read by people and archaeologists. Scribes were mostly used for that. They wrote about different types of Gods because there was a lot of Gods in what they believe. They believe in every single object or usually, objects who are made and protected by a God. Scribes were building up as many Kings were hiring them as they did something or someone did. Also they were building up because cuneiform is being commonly used.
Aramic is a very different type of language. But it is very close to our language. Which is Arabic. Cuneiform is very close to pictures or pictographs.
